Katherine Carney is a life-long resident of Maryland, growing up in Oxford and Easton and residing in the Annapolis area for over 35 years. Now settled on the Wye River in Queenstown, Katherine is a person who truly lives and loves coastal life.

This provides the perfect foundation for her interest in all things coastal including marine life and fauna and for her passion for art to thrive. Influenced by the scenes that surround her, Katherine’s subjects are varied, although she is best known for her coastal paintings. The winner of the 2016 Hospice Cup Poster Competition and the commissioned artist for the 2017 Eastport Yacht Club Parade of Lights artist has brought her movement-based sailing scenes much recognition. Katherine is a realist with an impressionistic view. She feels that more suggestion and less detail, works best for her while also providing her viewer a fresh perspective.

Other than painting, her hobbies include active sports like running, cycling, kayaking and of course – beaching. You can also find her husband, Lab Sophie and her, walking, exploring and enjoying the many Maryland and Delaware seashore parks.

You can find some of her fine art giclee prints, as well as Limited Edition prints that were published with Maine Cottage on her Etsy Print Shop. Her original paintings and prints are in many shops and galleries in the Delmarva area as well as in Duck, North Carolina.
